>> Good morning Nerd Fam and a welcome to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, where it's quite a sizzling day and that's not just because of the temps outside. We're here on day one of World of Workato, and my name's Savannah Peterson, joined with Rob Strechay to bring you all the fun, two days of power pack coverage. Rob, it's great to be back in Las Vegas with you.
Rob Strechay
>> It is. It's been a while.
Savannah Peterson
>> It's been about as long as it goes for us.
Rob Strechay
>> Yeah. But I think this is great and I think, like you said, a lot of the energy in the room just came from the keynotes. I think there's just a lot of energy about simplification and working with AI versus just building AI and I think that was really a key that got me excited about what was going on. It definitely got the audience excited.
Savannah Peterson
>> Yeah, absolutely. One of the things that we talked with Chandra about before in our preview segment as well as a key theme of our preparation for this show has been all about showing and not telling. And I think that we definitely saw that from all of the Workato leadership as well as their partners in the many different layers of the keynote that we saw today. I was most excited personally, and I'm curious to hear what you say, but I'm really excited about what they've done with their agentic program and even how they've branded it. They're calling agents genies, which I kind of love, and they have a portfolio of 28 genies here that span across IT, HR, new hire onboarding and lots of fun things. What stood out to you the most out of that demo?
Rob Strechay
>> Yeah, I thought it was great, and I actually got to see some of them in action last night as they did their opening here. So there's just no replacement for being here in person, but trying to express to everybody on the other side of the camera that what was really key was how they looked at layering of agents and how it really was about making it simple from the data all the way to the actual output and the actions that were taken by the agents, to your point, and I think a lot of what they were talking about is it's transformation only happens in core systems and those cut across hundreds of applications is what Vijay was talking about, the CEO for Workato at the top. And I think a lot of this was around you don't want to gamble and just look at it as API examples and API integrations. It's much more than that. And I think that was a real key that I came away with is that in all of the demos they were doing, and I got to say, they pulled off some great demos.
Savannah Peterson
>> Lots, multiple too.
Rob Strechay
>> Lots of moving parts and that is really hard to do as we go to a lot of these and you see a lot.
Savannah Peterson
>> We know all the risks of doing it live.
Rob Strechay
>> Correct and it is excellent. So I think again, part of this was around how they were bringing it together and really relevant context tied to KPIs. To your point about the 28 different agents that they built internally to utilize, over summer they brought everybody out to Palo Alto and the families all got... Some of the families got Airbnb's as they were talking about, and really worked to dive in and understand and build these out. So it showed how easy it was when you actually have a really good governance layer. You actually have an enterprise platform with Workato One and what they talked about with Workato Go as being kind of the place you go to interact with your genies. I really loved a lot of that today.
Savannah Peterson
>> Yeah, just building on that, they really emphasized one, runtime, one, experience and unified governance. I think that's one of the benefit of the platform players as we evolve into this next era of agentic. Something else I thought was really intriguing is they've done 700 feature updates over the last year. You can tell how quick their speed of innovation and deployment is. They had Stephen from Samsara on there, one of the partners and one of their community members talking about the experience that they had first with the IT genie as a gateway into the rest of the genie family. But it was amazing to hear him discuss how they were able to achieve results actually doubling their performance in just a couple weeks. Now when I think people think about our last three years with AI, sure there's been some MVPs. We see a lot of folks drinking their own champagne, but we haven't exactly seen a ton of deployment in use cases at scale out in the wild. And I am very excited about all of our guests this week because I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about that specifically. I think they're also thinking about, to your point about APIs, about MCP, they're thinking about how all the tools and all the data that these companies already have are going to come together to provide the best experience and the most utility for these genies. There's one thing that also came up on stage that I really want to bring up, and that was the notion that no one at Workato is going to lose their job as a result of agentic or as a result of these genies. Now, we just saw Atlassian lay off 150 employees due to AI directly to the CEO earlier this week. Pretty wild story. We also heard the CEO of Stripe talking about how no new hires can happen unless they can prove that the job can't be done with AI. Completely different cultural conversation here at World of Workato. And I think that that's really important. You can tell that the team here is not trying to reduce the potential and capacity of their humans on the team necessarily. They're trying to really augment that and make them superheroes that can effectively do their jobs more creatively and strategically and help their customers rather than having to worry about some of the mundane tasks that these genies can take over. So very different tone here on the ground in Vegas than I've heard at some of the other shows. Would you agree?
Rob Strechay
>> Yeah, I agree. I think that they get it. I think that part of it is they use it so embedded in not only in their culture but in the fabric of how they work as well. And I think that's a big piece of what they're looking for. And they had their CIO up on stage talking about how they've built this out and what they're doing and being able to save on licensing an example of the genie that they built to go through and how people come in the morning and they can see, "Hey, I wasn't..." Use the example of Gong, going from paid Gong to free Gong because all they're doing is listening to a few things. Also, "Hey, from a Salesforce licensing perspective that we all know if you're just going in and running reports, there can be better ways to do that." You see them talking to their data and being able to do that, which is stuff you would still have to do, but it's very ROI driven and KPI driven versus being, "Hey, this is somebody's job." And I think this was to your point about enhancement.
Savannah Peterson
>> Yes, great point.
Rob Strechay
>> It also looked at and said, "Hey, we're going to add Grammarly." So the agents were there to be assistive and not to be replacing and really understood what the people do to make them better with their work and how they went about things. That was key to me. And also I loved the carrot at the end of, "Hey..." I think it was like $1,700 in licensing fees that they saved, over $1,700. And it said, "Hey, even adding Grammarly, we're still going to give you the carrot, which was an Amex gift card, a $50 gift card for going through and actually Limiting your use of these more expensive things." But again, that helps people be not just in the loop, but as they say, in control of AI, which I loved.
Savannah Peterson
>> Yes, and they definitely emphasize the important role of everyone on the team being able to create genies. I loved the genie agent studio demo most particularly because I think a lot of people are hearing about agentic, but they don't necessarily know what the process looks like to build one themselves. We actually got to see that done on stage today. We got to see the demo in natural language, literally just writing out the job description for the genie the same way you would write out a job description for a human being. And as I said, these genies are really just genius junior employees. They're great and they're full of ideas and can run well if they're trained right. However, they do need that human in the loop and they need people to be able to help them out. So I thought it was very cool to see just how easy it is to build a genie, and I don't know about you, but it got me thinking about the types of things that I would love to have Workato genie doing for me.
Rob Strechay
>> Yeah, I think it was really... I just loved their focus on KPI results and outcomes for all of the genies to that point. And the fact that it was ROI was around lowering your total cost of ownership to the Samsara example they showed at the end there, the stack modernization. And I think that was another big theme that we'll be talking about is how do you actually modernize your tech stack because there's a lot of moving parts. And what they were able to get rid of was a couple of pieces out of their tech stack, which was MuleSoft and Moveworks, but then they were also keeping things like UiPath and Fivetran as part of their data pipelines and their RPA. And when you looked at it, Workato was able to then simplify the rest of that stack. And I think that was that stack simplification and modernization is going to be a big theme that we'll probably be talking about with many of the guests over the next two days.
Savannah Peterson
>> I think you're absolutely right. Speaking of those guests, we've got over 20 segments planned for you over the next few days ranging from Workato partners, Workato executives. We're going to be talking about the experience of building all of this, deploying this and what it's going to achieve. Closing note I'd like to leave the group with four on this opening keynote analysis is, I loved when they said that you get what you aim for with agents, so aim high. That got my wheels turning a lot, and I think that that's really exciting because I feel like too much of the conversation focuses on lower level tasks within a business's hierarchy, customer service, things like that. Although it's still great for customer satisfaction, but it made me really think bigger picture. What would I love to have a genie doing for me? So let's noodle this, Rob, maybe when we do our closing segment today or tomorrow, we can talk about what our dream genies, I dream of genie does for us.
Rob Strechay
>> Absolutely. There you go.
Savannah Peterson
>> All right, Rob. Well, I am super excited to be welcoming all of our guests and very grateful to the entire Workato team. You and I have been talking about how wonderful it's been getting ready and preparing for this event with their crew. Absolutely fantastic working with Joe and everybody else, and we're going to bring the fun.
Rob Strechay
>> Absolutely. I think the knowledge, the fun, and it all comes together for these people who are there watching live on both LinkedIn and on our channels. It's great.
Savannah Peterson
>> Yeah, yeah. And don't worry folks, you don't have to rub a little genie lamp today.
