Compellent defines itself as an innovator in comparison to primary storage innovation in the last decade; attributing its success to services they provide such as thin provisioning, sub lun, automated tiered storage, tiering disc platters, portable volumes, and things of that nature. Phil Soran calls Compellent a leader in storage as one of the fastest growing companies in their area of expertise, and backing up his claim with the numbers; Compellent has grown about 38% year over year including the previous year, with about 2,100 customers in 34 countries.
