nScaled CTO Kent Langley visits the Cube at VMWorld 2010 for a discussion with John Furrier and Dave Vellante on how to best architect a solution that can deliver shorter recovery point objectives and improved disaster recovery in a cloud computing world.
Kent Langley draws attention to his client base, mainly those in the legal industry and financial services industry, calling them risk intolerant and high value content creators. Langley explains his role to his clients in this way, "if you have a lawyer making a very nice salary, for every hour that he works, it is very important that he keep working. Every minute that he is not (working), specifically, for every minute that his email is down, he is not producing."
John turns the conversation with a question about virtualization, in terms of how it affects the needs of cloud service providers, asking Kent Langley what his company, nScaled, is looking for in a vendor to assist in their growth for the future.
Kent Langley explains in no uncertain terms that what nScaled is looking for from any vendor, has to allow them to consume the vendors services in an on demand business model, adding, "we have had to fight a lot over the last couple of years to reach that, with all of our vendors, but that is changing, very quickly."
