Jeff Hammerbacher is the founder of Cloudera and he joins Wikibon's Dave Vellante and SiliconAngle's John Furrier inside theCUBE at Strata Hadoop World 2012.
Cloudera, at the time of the interview, was a startup that very rapidly acquired a steadily growing solid customer base.
"Exploring data is one of the big themes" at the event, according to Furrier. In previous years, it was all about pin-pointing the data, now it's about understanding it and "making the most of the data".
Furrier want Hammerbacher's take on the trend of extracting data from the market, from a data scientist's standpoint.
Hammerbacher's response, "The more data you plow into this infrastructure,
the bigger the bottleneck is gonna be."
Hammerbacher points out that the key to success here is turning the data you've collected into something that can actually improve your outcomes from a business standpoint.
Cloudera first launched their Hadoop platform in 2009 and following that released their third iteration of its platform, called Cloudera's Distribution. One Commercial Customer of Cloudera is Groupon.
On a side note, Jeff Hammerbacher got his start processing large data sets for Facebook.
