Day 2 Intro | Splunk .conf2014
Day 2 Intro, at Splunk.conf 2014 with Jeff Kelly and Jeff Frick
@theCUBE
#theCUBE #Splunk #splunkconf #SiliconANGLE @Splunk
The keynote at this week’s Splunk Inc. conference, and subsequent interviews with SilconANGLE’s roving news desk theCUBE, highlighted Splunk’s ability to streamline business IT processes and achieve a new philosophy about how they handle data, agreed co-hosts Jeff Kelly and Jeff Frick. In the keynote, one of Splunk’s most prominent customers, Coca Cola, Co., showcased its use of Splunk for app development and the automation of data collection.
Reflecting on coverage of the first day of the Splunk conference, Kelly called out that the majority of their interviewees were happy Splunk customers. Many of them, said Frick, are “unlocking business value enabled by [Splunk] applications.” Some Splunk practitioners have take a unique approach to data, flipping the traditional model on its head by collecting data first and defining schemas after the fact, while other customers have seen an increase in data sources, including machine-to-machine data.
Kelly also noted that the previous day’s speakers on theCUBE were also looking at “Big Data in context.” While they recognized Big Data as critical to competitive differentiation, they also saw it as part of a larger ecosystem, inherently connected to cloud and DevOps. These customers, Kelly said, are “putting all these pieces together” as part of their modern approach to information technology.
