TheCube - Splunk .conf 2012 - Ron Bodkin, Founder and CEO, Think Big Analytics, with Jeff Kelly and Jeff Frick
For a special segment at The Cube, Jeff Frick and Jeff Kelly landed an interview with Think Big Analytics CEO Ron Bodkins at this week’s Splunk .conf 2012, where we’re broadcasting live interviews and analysis on SiliconAngle.TV.
A recap about Think Big Analytics: they are in the business of helping enterprises take advantage of new disruptive data capabilities and just pretty much everything about data science. Being in this business, they are keeping an eye on Splunk, which is a big player in the big data space.
When asked about how he sees Splunk, Bodkins said that Splunk is “building a heritage in machine data and search to tackle some use cases integrating with new big data technologies.”
Think Big Analytics really envisions services for enterprises, or what they love to call “Brainstorm”. They help customers think, create and differentiate the value out of their data: what are the ways of working with data, what are use cases that value add to that so they can apply it to their industry. All in all, they let customers drive meaningful changes to their business through big data.
Enterprises are sold on to companies like Think Big Analytics because big data constantly evolves, and at a very rapid pace, at that. Big data is all about creating something new. Unlike a decade ago when people are trying so hard to “get rid of data,” businesses these days are data hungry, analyzing their data flexibly that’s different from anyone else’s to gain an edge and create value.
“What we engage are small nimble firms, startups, or typically, no-longer-startups but growing because they just want best-in-class expertise. We’ve got brilliant engineers and data scientists, and we can provide acceleration and thought leadership in their programs and they recognize that they have what scarce for them is time and they can’t afford to do it wrong, or make mistakes.”
