Managing cybersecurity change while staying true to the mission
Capgemini Services SAS is helping its clients navigate waves of change in the cybersecurity industry.
Whether it’s finding enough skilled people to hire for critical positions, dealing with the latest threat information, or weighing the use of artificial intelligence to protect systems, the firm’s global customer base has an ever-shifting number of factors to consider.
Yet, there is one constant that cuts across all borders and organizations, and that’s the mission.
“If you’re in this for the right reasons, it’s because you care about the mission,” said Joe McMann (pictured, left), chief security officer and strategy lead for the North American Cyber Practice at Capgemini. “That’s the single biggest rallying point for all of the people in this. The mission is to defend us and stop the bad guys from doing bad things.”
McMann spoke with John Furrier, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the RSA Conference in San Francisco. He was joined by Bob Meindl (pictured, right), executive vice president for the North American Cyber Practice at Capgemini, and they discussed the range of services Capgemini provides to manage cybersecurity for clients around the world and how the field has evolved from a technology challenge to become an integral part of the business. (* Disclosure below.)
Tailored global network
Capgemini maintains a global network of 24/7 security operations centers, tailored to the context and business needs of its clients.
“The technology is an enabler, but it’s not the ‘be all and end all,’” Meindl said. “Our goal is to coordinate people, process and technology and leverage the playbooks we have been using for many years.”
In addition to the operations centers, Capgemini provides clients with access to its threat intelligence services. The firm uses continuously updated information regarding cyber threats with AI-fueled analysis by a dedicated team of security experts.
“The Capgemini story is really about increasing your cybersecurity maturity,” Meindl said. “Cybersecurity has been a tech challenge for quite a long time, but it wasn’t a business challenge. It’s now top of mind.”
