Yet a recent study has found that information technology outages, downtime and unplanned work continue to cost enterprises both time and money. This is one reason the cloud-based IT monitoring service PagerDuty Inc. has ridden a wave of enterprise interest in using new technologies to keep system downtime as low as possible. This week the company brings its ecosystem of customers and partners together, including chaos engineering platform Gremlin Inc., Sept. 21-24 for the PagerDuty Summit virtual event. “A lot of people are asking, ‘What is chaos engineering? How can I use it, and will it help me reduce my incidents?’ Because there are a lot of new services that have been rolled out recently; for example, curbside pickup. That’s a whole new thing that had to be created to handle a large amount of load,” said Tammy Bryant, principal site reliability engineer at Gremlin. Bryant, who’s lined up as a speaker for the PagerDuty Summit, recently met with Lisa Martin, host of TheCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, ahead of the event. Her talk will cover methods of scaling site reliability engineering teams, along with recommendations for finding and retaining SRE talent. TheCUBE will be broadcasting interviews with PagerDuty executives and key industry leaders during the PagerDuty Summit event. Discussion topics include recent product announcements, PagerDuty’s growing points of integration across major cloud platforms and services, how the firm is expanding its developer and partner ecosystems to support accelerated digital transformation, and the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of automated solutions to minimize IT alerts.
