Is less risk and more speed possible in the cloud? | #OOW
by Marlene Den Bleyker | Sep 19, 2016
As the enterprise races to the cloud, it wants low risk and high performance. As Oracle OpenWorld kicked off, Larry Ellison announced that Accenture — which provides services and solutions in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations — is now the first cloud-managed service provider that will bring customers to Oracle’s public cloud via the Accenture Oracle Business Group.
To weigh in on the announcement and what it means for enterprise customers, Terri Strauss, managing director, global Oracle practice lead, for Accenture, and Pat Sullivan, managing director, global Oracle technology lead, at Accenture, sat down with John Furrier (@furrier) and Peter Burris (@plburris), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, to discuss the dynamics of the partnership.
Less risk – more speed
“What we announced today was that we are the first global systems integrator to be part of that [managed services] program, and we have also announced that we are adding Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to our Accenture Oracle Business Group, which is a strategic, go-to-market [partnership] with Oracle that is all about accelerating our clients to the cloud faster at less risk,” said Strauss.
The services trifecta
The Accenture Oracle Business Group was launched in April 2015 as a strategic go-to-market with Oracle, and the company committed investments and resources to deliver acceleration to the cloud with low risk and fast performance, according to Strauss and Sullivan.
The group originally launched with just Software as a Service and Platform as a Service, and now the group can extend its offerings with IaaS.
According to Sullivan, Accenture Oracle Business Group has had a very successful inaugural year. “We added 70 clients across the globe to the new partnership with Oracle all cloud-based,” he stated, indicating that Accenture was happy with the price for performance, as well as the speed. The company is now expanding its portfolio and building solutions around it.
