Focused on meeting evolving buying needs of customers looking to avoid OEMs, QLogic Corp. has its own appeal to those seeking an IO solution. With their latest launch of a 10 Gb Ethernet Adapter made available through their channel partners, QLogic’s new product is driven by the shifts in the market.
“As the market ramps, the number of users that want to buy from new venues has morphed,” explains QLogic VP of Marketing, Vikram Karvat. “For certain of our applications and certain of our customers, the OEM products are the right fit. But now we are servicing a new type of customers,” he went on, saying his company “wants to make sure we have an offering that meets their requirements.”
In his live interview with theCUBE for SiliconANGLE’s coverage of this week’s Oracle OpenWorld conference, Karvat explained the changing customer needs and how they signal a maturing market, saying “the market has changed, in that with 10 gigs there is no single answer.” According to Karvat, there are numerous choices to be made concerning things like network functionality and ports, making it all but “a simple decision to drop something on the motherboard for an OEM. It will get worse in my view over time,” Karavat said, predicting that the number of choices is going to expand.
