Austin Eats! theCUBE team tries some open-source BBQ and tacos! | #OpenStack
by Betsy Amy-Vogt | Apr 27, 2016
Keeping it interesting from OpenStack Summit in Austin, Texas, were Stu Miniman (@stu), Brian Gracely (@bgracely) and John Walls, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, and special guest, theCUBE’s official Bar-B-Cuber, Sam Kahan.
Taking a break from the OpenStack Summit’s “serious side,” in a relaxed and fun analysis of the Austin food and social scene, the team kicked off Day 3 of the Summit by sharing stories about surviving the line to eat perfect brisket at Franklin’s Barbeque in East Austin, the queso phenomenon at Torchy’s Tacos, and which sponsor’s bar had the best live music at the OpenStack Summit social event.
Gracely revealed his secret identity as Pit Master at Oink BBQ, NC, and gave his professional opinion on Texas BBQ: “You taste the love … Mmmmmmm!”
Miniman decided that open source and BBQ aren’t so different after all, as both are “a science and an art form.”
Austin has the “philosophy and mindset” that matches that of the open-source community, and theCUBE team agreed that besting OpenStack Summit in Austin will be a tough act to follow, as the city is uniquely situated to host an event of this type.
