Day One Wrap | OpenStack SV 2016
OpenStack: From survive to thrive | #OpenStackSV
by Zoe Bernard | Aug 9, 2016
OpenStack’s shifting momentum was under a great deal of scrutiny today, the kickoff for OpenStack Days: Silicon Valley 2016 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. John Furrier (@furrier), cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, pointed out that OpenStack is swiftly progressing from “survive” to “thrive.”
Today’s key talking points featured community, operations and consumption, production and deployment, and business model successes. Other underlying takeaways mentioned in theCUBE’s first day of interviews include the success of Docker (an open-source application container engine) and Kubernetes (container management software), the emerging global economy, and the deep need for collaboration among team members.
Everyone agrees that the only way for OpenStack to grow is through an open-minded approach to partnership. “It’s important for whole teams to focus on coming up with solutions together,” said theCUBE cohost Lisa Martin (@Luccazara). “These teams are leading the charge. This is a buyer-led journey.”
Even though OpenStack may have gone through difficult times in the past, today’s current consensus is that it’s stable, it’s healthy and it’s beginning to thrive.
