Chris Wahl - Nutanix .NEXT 2015 - theCUBE
Wahl Network debuts on theCUBE | #NEXTConf by Amber Johnson | Jun 18, 2015 Chris Wahl, founder and president of Wahl Network, LLC — a technology blog — joined theCUBE’s Dave Vellante and Stu Miniman for first time at the Nutanix .NEXT Conference. Wahl remarked on the difference between Nutanix and traditional converged infrastructure. “You’re able to wipe the slate clean from that legacy architecture,” and it’s “all about the software …” particularly the erasure coating added by Nutanix, which gives the customer “way more space efficiency out of your node.” Getting rid of the “manager-of-managers” With Nutanix, one-click updates are available for existing customers, and the new system will not be a “manager-of-managers,” or as Wahl suggested, a “mom.” Wahl promises that many of the previous complications have been “abstracted away” so that the current process is a simple just log-in and say, “‘I want a data center,’ and it builds one for me.” In addition, Wahl described the benefits of having a customer panel and discussed real successes with Nutanix, as well as the extremely popular and informative negotiation workshop he attended. theCUBE hosts and Wahl debated the future of VMware, Inc. in the face of Nutanix. Wahl indicated that he saw signals for “integration” of VMware, leading to “lots of choice for the customer.” Wahl expressed excitement for Nutanix, a company that “makes a hyperconverged infrastructure stack” with the goal to “get rid of silos at the Cloud and Hypervisor layer, not just the storage layer and compute layer.” He also commented that traditional bar software requires a hybrid bar to avoid “re-selling the product directly,” which isn’t really an endgame. “You aren’t going to be able to feed your engineers on that,” he added. According to Wahl, adding a professional service aspect differentiates a channel from its competition. @theCUBE #NEXTConf
