Germany and Asia-Pacific are growth markets at Infor, while Brexit looms over Europe
As Infor Inc. surveys the global technology landscape, the company is experiencing strong business growth in Asia-Pacific and Germany, while the market in Great Britain remains highly uncertain as political leaders decide how the nation’s departure from the European Union will be carried out.
That’s the capsule summary provided by Cormac Watters (pictured), executive vice president for EMEA and APAC at Infor. “We’re doing incredibly well in Germany,” said Watters, who also noted that Asia-Pacific is showing the most momentum. “I would say that region is probably the fastest growing in all of Infor.”
Watters spoke with Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and John Walls (@JohnWalls21), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the Inforum event in Washington, D.C. They discussed the impact of Great Britain’s EU departure on the country’s business climate and products in the Infor family that could fuel additional market growth. (* Disclosure below.)
Investment uncertainty in Great Britain
The decision by Great Britain to leave the European Union, also known as Brexit, has injected a great deal of uncertainty into the country’s business climate. “Brexit is on everybody’s mind,” Watters said. “What would be best is if we just knew what was going to happen, and then we could deal with it. The uncertainty is just slowing down investment, so we need that to be resolved.”
With responsibility for overseeing Infor’s business growth in six regions of the world, Watters pays close attention to which products are most likely to fuel the company’s future expansion in select countries. Infor’s Enterprise Asset Management software, which helps customers optimize maintenance operations, provides that kind of opportunity, according to Watters.
“That’s a product suite that can fit across all of our industries, and I think that could be a significant growth area for us across the entire six regions,” Watters said.
