For Attendees
The event features a General Session, divided into three categories: A New Way to Think, A New Way to Work and A New Way Forward, featuring speakers such as IBM Fellow and CTO for Cloud Services Jason McGee, Animation Research Ltd. CEO Ian Taylor and IBM VP for Enterprise Mobile Phil Buckellew, to name a few.
IBM InterConnect is the fusion of three big IBM events – Impact, Innovate and Pulse – and aims to create the most comprehensive and collaborative event to provide a richer experience for attendees. The event focuses on Cloud, Mobile, DevOps, Security, Asset Management, Internet of Things, Application Integration, and Smarter Process.
IBM InterConnect 2015 also offers opportunities for attendees to unwind, relax and expand their network with special events like the Welcome Reception, Open Technology Summit and a special performance by legendary rock band Aerosmith.
What to Expect
In combining efforts from across its businesses, IBM Interconnect demonstrates the company strategy to offer a single point of service for enterprise IT. We expect a big push on cloud initiatives, including IBM Bluemix, the Platform-as-a-Service layer created with the open source Cloud Foundry, and Softlayer.
IBM is differentiating its open source strategy, telling of the company’s desire for monetizing revamped efforts around cloud services. IBM has similar end goals as Hewlett-Packard Co. and Oracle Inc., also in the throes of reworked cloud offerings that leverage a variety of services under the same roof. For IBM, open source is a foundation for crafting enterprise-grade services by filling in the gaps of the cooperative projects. To this end, we’ll be looking for new developments with Cloud Foundry, and hope to learn more of IBM’s work with containerization.
Cloud also supports IBM’s mobile efforts, and we hope to hear the updates from IBM’s recent partnership with the iPhone maker Apple, Inc.
