Guillermo Guemez Sarre, CTO at Banorte, called the undertaking a “large process” with the goal of “trying to close the circle from info into cash.” The bank is working with “various initiatives that start with all the information that the bank currently has about all its customers, then going from that to a next best action or offer to the customer and then being able to execute that real time,” he said. Most initiatives are in productions, but they are beginning to roll out, Guemez Sarre told Paul Gillin, host of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during an interview at IBM Insight 2015. The CTO noted two major changes: Customers “get interaction from the bank in real-time in all their channels,” and those interactions are synchronized. This means only turning down a credit card offer once, for example. Guemez Sarre noted that Banorte is not trying to bring people back to the branch, but the same offer will be available online or via ATM and call center. Leveraging analytics and Big Data Shanker Ramamurthy, global managing partner of business analytics and strategy at IBM Global Services, joined the discussion and talked about disruption in the financial industry, more specifically “digital disruption.” Ramamurthy observed, “The real economy is being impacted by digitalization as well.” A 12-year study revealed “for the first time, technology became something for CXOs to worry about. The entire industry is concerned with the disruptive powers of technology,” he continued. “Torch bearers (top 5%) … are leveraging analytics and Big Data and cognitive in a profound and fundamental way.” “Banorte, through the work we are doing for them, is very much at the cutting edge of positioning themselves to actually stay ahead of the market and not be disrupted by the nontraditional competitors,” Ramamurthy commented. @theCUBE #IBMInsight
