Adapting at the speed of digital transformation | #HPEDiscover
by BEV TERRELL
As partners for more than 22 years, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. and Wipro Ltd. bring their respective strengths together to support customers as they embark on a voyage of digital transformation. Their joint solutions provide customers with a complete, well thought out map to support their current business, and to plan for future changes and improvements, according to Mayur Bharath, director of Strategy and Planning, Global Business Services, at HPE, and Dave Chopra, VP of Global Infrastructure Services at Wipro.
The duo joined Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Paul Gillin (@pgillin), co-hosts of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during HPE Discover EU, held in London. They discussed the partnership between HPE and Wipro, as well as Wipro’s view of the changes in the financial industry.
A symbiotic, mutually beneficial partnership
Gillin asked when HPE brings in Wipro (a global information technology, consulting and outsourcing company) as opposed to, say, Accenture (a global professional services company), what criteria they use as the deciding factor.
“Wipro is very strong in a couple of industry segments, manufacturing in particular [as well as] energy and utilities. … When there’s a deal going on in these segments, we actually make it a point to proactively partner with Wipro very early on,” said Bharath. He also explained that the two companies have a very symbiotic relationship, with close alignments up and down the personnel ladder on both sides.
Regarding where the partnership is headed in the future, Bharath said he would like the ability to fast track, given the rate at which the world is changing and digital transformation is happening. Speed is of the essence; it is essential that the partnership move at the pace of which the world is changing, he explained.
Supporting the financial industry
The guests also discussed how the financial sector is always under great pressure to change and transform, especially with the recent changes brought on by Brexit and the U.S. presidential election.
“To support that environment, think of the infrastructure and the applications that turn at the back; most of our customers are moving from branch to branchless operations to digital mobility applications,” said Chopra.
He said that he can’t remember the last time he cashed a check inside a bank; it’s all done via applications or online now.
