HP executed the hybrid Cloud strategy it laid out three years ago, according to Steve Dietch, HP’s VP of Cloud Solutions & Infrastructure.
“Customers are deciding what applications are going to stay on- and off-premises, and they need an effective way to manage that complexity and get the benefits of a hybrid IT environment,” he told theCUBE during HP Discovery 2015. HP’s announcement of the CloudSystem 9, the latest version of its flagship on-premises offering, is evidence of its strategy coming to fruition.
“As customers continue their journey from private Cloud with traditional apps, to native with open stack, to managing multiple Clouds, HP has a solution to address those elements,” said Dietch.
HP expands Cloud presence in China
Last year, HP partnered with UnionRead Information Technology Ltd., a leading content distribution network based in Beijing, to build and operate community Clouds for enterprise customers in China. The agreement increases HP’s presence in China.
HP also recently sold a majority interest in Tsinghua Holdings’ subsidiary Unisplendour Corp Ltd. The joint venture, called H3C, “brings servers, networking, storage and our technology services together and fully exploits the power of the Chinese engine from a governmental to a province level,” said Dietch. “HP maintains full ownership of the Cloud business, of the software business, and the enterprise services.”
