HP’s take on the overall IT approach| #HPDiscover #HPEDiscover
by Amber Johnson | Jun 4, 2015
“What we love to understand is where is the customer from the business going, what is happening in that market. What we find is being very agile and fast to solve new business problems has become a major priority for IT,” asserted Johan Deschuyffeleer, senior VP and GM for Worldwide Technology Services Consulting at Hewlett-Packard Co.
Deschuyffeleer explained to theCUBE’s John Furrier and Dave Vellante that the best way to utilize the four areas of transformation is by “going one level deeper” examining the network or Cloud level, in addition to directional software at the control and infrastructure levels.
“How we can bring that IT priority… how it fits into an overall IT approach,” Deschuyffeleer continued. “We cannot see infrastructure including the control layer independent form the application layer.”
Thus, HP considers the “impact on the overall infrastructure” by offering services both in an isolated or integrated level.
Educational workshops help customers understand new environment
HP customers will receive assistance on the organizational level with both consulting practices and educational practices via its workshops offered at HP Discover 2015. Half of the focus of these educational workshops is to “help the customer understand the new environment” and “change in management,” while the other half focuses on how mobility is “not just a technology change. It’s a behavioral change, a cultural change” within the workplace. This shift marks the “new style of IT” as “application-centric.”
To that end, HP offers “500 workshops on a yearly basis,” Deschuyffeleer disclosed. During HP Discover in Barcelona last year, over 100 workshops took place concerning “implementing strategy around storage.” For customers interested in these hour-long formatted workshops who were unable to attend Las Vegas this year, Deschuyffeleer encouraged businesses to contact him at HP or to work through local consulting or account management representatives.
Global perspectives
When asked about global perspectives, Deschuyffeleer remarked that different areas have a “certain maturity” that vary. Moving forward, HP will have a “focused approach in what is needed in specific markets” in its “globally defined portfolio.”
“With the right mix of people” HP will be able to offer “virtually the same service across the globe.”
