To successfully pitch Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI), Hewlett-Packard Co. does not focus solely on technology, as business value needs to be the driver. Stopping by theCUBE at HP Discover this week in Barcelona, Johan Deschuyffeleer, SVP & GM, HP Technology Services Consulting said the pitch “is about what the customers can build with this technology, what business outcomes they want to achieve.”
“You need to grab the opportunity when the opportunity arises,”Deshuyffeleer added. “That means from an IT point of view you have to be very agile and very flexible. We believe that SDI is going to be key for customers to link fast deployed applications with the infrastructure they have now.”
SDI services need to be part of an open world. “We realize customers are using external providers. What we do as a service organization, is understand where the customer is today and give advice on how to move forward with the next step,” Deschuyffeleer said.
DevOps is a mind shift according to Deschuyffeleer. The question it poses is “How do you move from a traditional IT world to the new style to IT? It’s a question of how you link it all together and how do you link it to the business opportunity.” He also mentioned that right now CIOs are more aligned with the business mindset. “You can clearly see that CIOs play a more important role in how the company moves forward, they need to understand where the company is going.” Deschuyffeleer said.
