Johan Deschuyffeleer, HP, at HP Discover Barcelona 2013 with John Furrier and Dave Vellante
SiliconANGLE's theCUBE, broadcasting live from HP Discover in Barcelona, welcomed the senior vice president and general manager of HP Technology Services Consulting, Johan Deschuyffeleer to discuss the en masse adoption of new IT strategies on the part of the enterprise and how HP enables them to move into this emerging environment.
In the US there has been a slower recognition of the need to embrace this movement to new strategies, but in Europe items like cloud adoption has been viewed differently. "Customers are convinced they need to move to the cloud," Deschuyffeleer stated. "This is a journey. This is not something you can turn off."
HP has developed a seven-step system, ranging from Assessment to ultimately implementing a Management Solution. Each step is designed so that when followed, the endpoint of one is the entry point for the next. "Wherever our customers are on that journey," commented Deschuyffeleer, "we can help them implement, operate and learn about the capabilities they are purchasing."
Customers can benefit from the broad catalog offered by HP. By taking advantage of the company's application modernization, customers can have a plan tailor-made for them to help them move from legacy to new technology.
Deschuyffeleer noted how HP offers consulting that is meant to assess the individual customer's needs. They start creating a master plan by coming into the enterprise with a structured three-day deliverable workshop that draws information from several groups within the company.
From there, HP offers what they call 'transformational services.' SiliconANGLE's John Furrier inquired of Deschuyffeleer for a deeper description of what transformational means in practical terms. "Transformational seems to be a buzzword lately. Many use it almost as a term of derision. How would HP define transformational for their customers?"
Deschuyffeller responded, "Transformational services can mean a transformation to the business. We believe IT can strongly influence the company. It can also mean how we help a customer move from a legacy storage and network environment into new products. It is a step-by-step process we offer after our advisory services."
From there, HP Consulting directs their customers through their Integration Services. This master plan allows the customer to execute and plan financially. HP offers the assurance that whatever needs the customer may have, from data center issues to requirements across hardware and software, their multiple capabilities and willingness to work with their partners will help them to achieve their goals.
Those goals are getting easier and easier to reach as strategies and tools are being automated and extracted away as well. "The IT business is moving faster and faster. Our customers need to be able to move really, really fast," Deschuyffeleer stated.
Summing up the HP Discover conference in Barcelona, he stated this one seemed to have considerably more excitement around it than previous events. HP is showing, on a broad scale, everything they have to offer. A full spectrum of products and services, from cloud and compute to printing to storage, is demonstrating to the attendees just how comprehensive a role HP can play in driving their business forward. Deschuyffeleer concluded, "I like where we are going."
