How HP intends to bring ‘real’ value to Big Data | #HPBigData2015 by Darcie Nolan | Aug 13, 2015 What’s the ultimate vision for HAVEn, the Big Data savior from Hewlett-Packard Co.? According to Shilpa Lawande, VP and GM of Hewlett Packard Big Data Platform, the vision includes blending structured and unstructured data through new products like the Haven App Framework. During the HP Big Data Conference 2015 in Boston, MA, Lawande talked with theCUBE’s John Furrier and Dave Vellante about the future of Big Data. Business Value and Big Data Lawande talked about HP’s move to bring real business value to Big Data. As she puts it, “One of the things that we are doing as part of our HAVEn framework is trying to make it so analytic insights can be … blended together.” The company says this is is just one of the initiatives HP is launching to make development easier, streamlined, accurate and scalable without sacrificing performance. Lawande compares the company’s approach to a consumer’s ability to customize a MINI Cooper as she explained, “The idea of being able to take the things that make it high performance and so on, and keep that, but make it available in different forms, fashions.” HP has made it possible to take its high-performance Vertica foundation and combine it with an open-customization Hadoop development option. The Future of Data Lawande also discussed her views on the data continuum and how HP’s toolset can bring people from data exploration to use. And don’t miss Lawande’s explanation of how HP is approaching top customer problems and what she is most excited about with the new technologies available. @theCUBE HPBigData2015
