Big Data needs Big Data to secure from the inside out #HPBigData2015

Software security becomes a big issue when apps get into the mix – creating holes in IT processes, like Swiss cheese, according to theCUBE’s John Furrier. So how are companies securing data from the inside? Rick Hanson, worldwide VP of sales for HP Software, sat down the theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s Media production team, during the HP Big Data Conference to talk about security, app development, data centers and the move to secure from the inside.
“I think what’s happened through the evolution of security is we’ve figured out we have to secure from the inside,” he said. “The application space is key to that in making sure that we are coding effectively, making sure that our application code is effective, making sure that the data around us is encrypted in the right way and in a smart way; this is where we really have to focus.”
Big Data Analytic’s Role in Security
Knowing what is happening and predicting what will happen plays a big role in security, and that all comes from Big Data collection. According to Hanson, Big Data analytics can help companies plan for servers, loads and the decisions that need to be made for security.
The Future of Security
Logging Big Data means a company has the information they need to look for the anomalies in the system and find where security threats are possible. According to Hanson, the data will show where security needs to take action. In addition, Hanson shares his thoughts on the evolution of security, encryption, new ways to encrypt and be able to use the data that is collected.
