Hadoop helps users get value out of data | #HadoopSummit by Heather Johnson | Jun 12, 2015 Now that Hadoop has become something of a buzz word, more businesses want to use Hadoop to get value out of their data. Recognizing this need, IBM recently announced that it will make Hadoop available as a service on Cloud, particularly with IBM Bluemix, according to Joel Horwitz, director of product marketing, Big Data Analytics for IBM. ‘Open inside anywhere’ Horwitz discussed IBM’s “open inside anywhere” slogan with theCUBE cohosts John Furrier and George Gilbert during Hadoop Summit 2015. “We talk about the ability to open up the value that’s in Hadoop as well as in data,” he said. “A lot of our clients struggle to take the work that they’ve built on Hadoop and integrate it with the rest of the enterprise. We’re also talking about how people can connect Hadoop and make it an extension of their data platform.” Like many of the executives in attendance at Hadoop Summit 2015, Horwitz sees limitless possibilities with the Cloud and Hadoop. “It’s a whole new world now with data,” he said. “We’ve got to think differently.” @theCUBE #HadoopSummit
