Syncsort and Dell announce joint data solution | #HadoopSummit
by Amber Johnson | Jun 23, 2015
Josh Rogers, president of Syncsort, Inc., announced “a joint solution for data offloading, data warehousing and ETL” during an interview with theCUBE alongside Dell Inc.’s Mike Fountaine, national sales director at Disruptive Solutions, Cloud and Big Data.
The solution is a great use case that frees up budget, funds their Hadoop cluster and populates with the data that businesses need. Rogers explained to theCUBE’s John Furrier during Hadoop Summit 2015.
A use-case-based approach to solving customer problems
Fountaine clarified that the solution utilizes a “use-case-based approach to solving customer problems” and expressed excitement about “putting together a whole solution to make it as consumable as possible.”
Dell’s partnership with Syncsort is critical “because they bring a trusted, experience solution to marketplace,” Fountaine continued.
Rogers remarked that the “one number use-case is off-loading” in “an understandable way to get started with Hadoop.” Combine that with Dell’s expertise and reach, and the result is an unmatched solution to getting people started toward the Big Data journey, Rogers added.
Syncsort took an approach that “Hadoop is going to win” from the beginning, and Rogers stated that the day a business installs Hadoop, it starts saving money.
Moving forward, Rogers said,“We are continuing to look for those use cases that will help customer justify and give direction to their Big Data ambitions.” In addition, he said, “Cloud is becoming a bigger part of our business.”
Fountaine declared it’s a great time to be at Dell due to the open source nature of the work they are doing in addition to their partnership with Syncsort.
