Consultants in Manhattan charge $15,000 to assist parents with the search for the perfect pre-school for their children, said Tejal Shah, founder and CEO of KidAdmit, Inc.
Talking with Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during interview at the Girls in Tech Catalyst Conference 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, Shah described her journey from mechanical engineer to entrepreneur and CEO of KidAdmit, Inc., as well as how KidAdmit facilitates researching pre-schools and democratizes the selection process.
It’s the college admissions process for pre-school!
Sending your child to the closest neighborhood pre-school is not the first choice these days, said Shah. Modern parents are looking for a school with the teaching philosophy and culture that they feel is going to instill a lifelong love of learning in their child and start them on the path to success.
Easy access to online admissions, philosophy and schedule
According to Shah, parents usually know of about five local schools through word-of-mouth, but there are generally many more choice out there. For example, KidAdmit lists over 350 pre-schools within San Francisco. Using the KidAdmit database, parents are able to learn about schools based on the criteria that is most important to them, such as:
Location;
Philosophy;
Schedule; and
Price.
KidAdmit has already raised $1.15 million in seed and pre-seed phases and now has 9,000 member preschools in 20 states. “We’re poised to be nationwide soon,” said Shah.
