The upgrade marks a significant change from the healthcare company’s former tape-based system. “That obviously comes with its own set of issues,” said Chris Waugh, enterprise technical architect for St. Charles Health System. “As time went on EMC presented us with an EDL and we got rid of the tapes.” Waugh said that the company uses apps to support its electronic medical records, ambulatory EMR systems, and hospital services such as Nurse Call. St. Charles Health System uses EMC almost exclusively for its infrastructure and two EMC Isilons for the file-level storage system. “We are very excited about having Isilon because of the challenge we face with so many images,” said Waugh. “And with Hypermax OS, we are able to future-proof ourselves.” Waugh said St. Charles Health System has a much more streamlined system since partnering with EMC. “They gave us solutions and we tailor-made our platform from top to bottom.” @theCUBE #EMCWORLD
