(09:13) #theCUBE #IBM #DockerCon #Docker #SiliconANGLE --- --- Major software shifts coming: How to deal | #DockerCon In the next few years, we can expect to see some major software shifts, according to IBM Fellow Jason McGee. During a visit with theCUBE at DockerCon 2015, McGee explained these changes, as well as ways to deal with new developments that are approaching. Although it doesn’t happen frequently, there are occasional architectural shifts in software that bring big changes. According to McGee, people are beginning to focus on microservices and answering the question, “How do I deliver at a much higher velocity?” Although the Cloud will always be around, the architectural changes will alter the way programmers work. Adapting to software shifts There are ways to adapt to the upcoming changes, according to McGee. “You need a platform that delivers across a spectrum of delivery models,” he explained. He added that programmers need to begin thinking about how to code in a flexible way. By building new apps with the ability to go on multiple platforms, programmers can cope with the shift and avoid the need to recode for each separate platform.
