Docker creates collaborative products in a collaborative environment | #DockerCon
An open-source platform such as Docker comes with its own set of challenges and excitement, Marianna Tessel, Docker’s VP of Engineering, told theCUBE during DockerCon. “Docker is at the forefront of technology, it’s fast moving, all the great things you look for in a company,” she said.
With 70 engineers out of a total staff of about 100, the company sees as much if not more contribution from outside the company than inside.
“We launched Kitematic, which was designed as an easy way for users to get started with Docker,” said Tessel. “The community contributed and got us all the way there.”
A ‘meaty,’ multi-host SDN
Of the products announced at DockerCon, Tessel is particularly impressed with Docker’s multi-host SDN. “It’s meaty for users, it’s real, and it’s expanded the use case for Docker,” she said. “We had a lot of users ask us to provide a networking tool like this.”
As one might expect, the culture inside Docker walls is diverse and exciting. “It’s very rare to work on technology that is so fundamental and revolutionary,” Tessel said.
