With major changes in store for both companies and the rest of the tech world once the merger is finalized, some of the finer details are being overlooked in the rush of excitement and anticipation. Marius Haas, chief commercial officer and president of Enterprise Solutions for Dell, Inc., met with John Furrier and Dave Vellante, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Dell World 2015 to give these details further exposure. The topics of how the merger came about, Dell’s plans for incorporating EMC’s tech and talent, customer reactions and more were explored while recognizing that the sheer size of the merger deal has it leading into some uncharted territory. Moving up the stack “I think the market is very excited about this opportunity and the value it creates for customers,” Haas said. He also noted that “the receptivity from the customer base has been enormous,” voicing Dell’s confidence that the merger will give them a stronger and even more firmly established base in the tech world as the integration proceeds. “We’ve done a lot in moving up the stack … but we’ve always done it with the same philosophy, which is translating technology to consumers … delivering value back to them,” he said. Grow this engine Haas described Dell’s intentions to give a “hard look” at the departments on both sides of the merger to determine where value could be created and redundancies eliminated. “We have an extremely strong EMC enterprise team … [and] an amazing, talented executive team at Dell,” he said. Pointing toward some of Dell’s priorities in this move, Haas noted its intent to find “how can we help the EMC portfolio and VMware portfolio come through and make the most [of them].” @theCUBE #DellWorld
