he Dell Storage Forum managed to attract hundreds of partners and even more customers, and this year the channel has come prepared to capitalize on the gathering. Already three Dell-related items crossed the wire, and more are continuously pouring in as the event kicks into high gear.
Infrastructure analytics provider SwiftTest is releasing the latest version of its flagship platform, which introduces a number of major improvements to the software. V2.1 can now run in two additional types of environments, and it supports IPv6 as well among other things.
“Service providers and IT organizations across industries need our solution, including ones at Dell Storage Forum,” stated Warren Bell, vice president of worldwide sales at SwiftTest. “We’re seeing major interest in our product’s capabilities, especially when companies migrate to private clouds. They must ensure that their infrastructure scales as needed and performs within expectations during ‘rainy days’, failures, and boot storms.”
Enterprises migrating to the cloud need to monitor the new infrastructure’s performance, and also make sure that their data is safe and sound. Dell itself has apparently been eyeing this particular area: today it announced that it will be offering security services through SecureWorks to customers worldwide. This Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) portfolio includes a number of other things as well – an updated firewall for one, and even a mobile app that is touted as a full-featured security assessment tool.
In turn a firm named iWave also decided to beat everyone to the mark with its own news. Its off the shelf Storage Automator solution now supports Compellent arrays and iWave is promising a number of a number of improvements: Automator can operate in multi-vendor environments and offers flex ability via capabilities such as policy-based storage selection and other admin options.
