The real story: What you missed in tech while Apple launched the iPhone 6s | #CCL2015
by Marlene Den Bleyker | Sep 9, 2015
As the world was enthralled by Apple and it’s new product releases today, John Furrier and Jeff Frick, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, sat in another part of San Francisco at Console Connect LIVE 2015 at the Nob Hill Masonic Center watching a new ecosystem emerge.
Technology engine
“This event brought together the thought leaders in networking that are changing the industry,” said Furrier. “The action is happening here. This is the engine of innovation for what Apple does.”
The event reminded Furrier of the LAN of the 90s. It is exciting to him that companies can be their own service provider and expand their territory. There were many conversations at the event about software-defined networking (SDN) applications that enable a click in or a process.
Driving with tinted windows
Frick sees Console, Inc. as a direct connection to the ecosystem.
“There are a vast number of cloud applications out there,” he said, adding that the industry is ‘cloudifying’ all the applications. “Being able to connect them together and off public Internet is great timing.”
Furrier compared blocking and tackling of today’s Internet to driving a car on the freeway with tinted windows, saying that no one really knows who is out there and what is going on in the car.
His final comment about the event: “Open source is important. Console is interesting.”
