IOpipe’s co-founder and chief technology officer, Erica Windisch (pictured), was just awarded a Top 10 Women in Cloud Innovation award from CloudNOW, the executive consortium for the leading women in cloud and converging technologies. Windisch recently explained how Amazon’s own push for Lambda adoption is driving growth for her company. “They really doubled down on providing a much better experience for developers of Lambda to make it easier for developers to really build and ship and run that code on Lambda, which provides a much tighter experience for them so that they can on-board into things like IOpipe more easily,” Windisch said. Windisch spoke with host Lisa Martin (@Luccazara) on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s moble livestreaming studio, during the CloudNow awards at the Google campus in Mountain View, California. They talked about Windisch’s award and the progress her company has made since winning Techstars last year. Lambda ecosystem growth The craze over serverless computing has led to an increased focus on new applications for Lambda-based architectures. Amazon’s recent announcement of Alexa for Business, a new voice-controlled service for productivity tools in the office, runs largely on Lambda, which also drives adoption for IOpipe. “A lot of Alexa apps are built on top of Lambda, so all of these are going to provide value to my own company because we can tell you things like, “Well, how are your users interacting” with those Alexa skills?” Windisch explained. The more than half the innovative team at IOpipe comes from underrepresented demographics, starting with Windisch herself being one of few transgender founders in the technology industry. Intentionally starting the company with such a diverse background helped IOpipe grow inclusively, according to Windisch. “We hire within our networks, but we started very diverse in the first place. So that organic growth was very natural and very diverse for us,” she concluded.
