Storage advancements change the face of tech | #oow15 by Darcie Nolan | Nov 5, 2015 The world of storage – especially relating to advancements with the cloud – is changing the face of tech. From new ways of storing data to the acquisition of storage companies, the environment is exciting and full of potential. Eric Herzog, VP of product marketing at IBM, spoke to Stu Miniman, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Oracle OpenWorld 2015 about storage-related acquisitions and how IBM views the cloud. Changes in storage “Well, I think there is no doubt this is gonna cause change throughout the industry in all segments,” Herzog said. Storage changes will likely change what every company is offering, partnerships and new technology. In this case, change is begetting change, and only the innovative and inquisitive will be able to keep up. “The good thing about storage is it’s always changing and it is never boring,” said Herzog. The hybrid story Storage and cloud components working together are a big focus at IBM, which is offering a multitude of options for its clients, like Netflix. “At IBM, hybrid clouds, public clouds and private clouds are huge opportunities, and the key thing is, when you are in the cloud you have all sorts of other vicissitudes,” Herzog explained. “The last thing you want is for that storage to not be … highly available, highly reliable and also provide high performance.” @theCUBE #CiscoUCS
