Veeam’s partnership with Cisco is paying dividends on both sides
Nearly two years ago, Veeam Software Inc.’s Availability solutions were added to Cisco Systems Inc.’s Global Price List. It looks like it’s turned out to be a pretty good deal for both companies.
Veeam is generating nearly two transactions every three days from the Cisco reseller arrangement, according to Danny Allan (pictured), vice president of product strategy at Veeam. And on the Cisco side, the company is realizing $11 in HyperFlex or Unified Computing System S3260 revenue for every dollar spent on Veeam.
“We have a joint target this year of $100 million,” Allan said. “We’re actually at 80% of that right now. Business has been doing well.”
Allan spoke with Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Stu Miniman (@stu), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the Cisco Live event in San Diego, California. They discussed the ongoing benefits of Veeam’s partnership with Cisco and continued growth in the company’s business (see the full interview with transcript here). (* Disclosure below.)
Cloud management is critical
Helping drive success for both companies are products like Cisco Intersight, which provides intelligent cloud-powered infrastructure management for UCS.
“That concept of a cloud management plane that can roll out the hardware, update it, not only the infrastructure, but the Veeam software, is really critical. And that resonates with customers,” Allan stated.
Its successful partnership with Cisco aside, Veeam — with its portfolio of backup, disaster recovery, and intelligent data management software — has been on a nice trajectory of late. The company reached $1 billion in bookings for the trailing 12 months and now claims over 350,000 customers, according to Allan.
“How many people actually have a budget for machine learning or blockchain or artificial intelligence?” Allan asked. “No one has a budget for that. What they have a budget for is backup.”
