A tour of the Intel booth at #ces2010
Intel is demonstrating a console for managing security and power management for OpenStack here at the Intel Developer Forum.
We saw a demo of the management console yesterday. I did a quick interview with Intel's Billy Cox, who runs the company's Cloud Builder program.
Services Angle
The demo is not the most elegant I've seen. The console is built on Life Ray, a Java-based collaboration platform. One observer asked: "Why not something more lightweight like Django?"
But on the other hand, the demo shows that Intel really is doing something for OpenStack. It's not just a marketing gimmick to be part of the program.
Cox says in the interview that he believes that it will be a few OpenStack releases before the console will be deployed. And that goes in line with what I am hearing about OpenStack. It still needs some time before it will truly be ready to compete against VMware in the open market.
