WANdisco and IBM access the power of ‘all data’ | #BigDataSV
by Amber Johnson | Mar 31, 2016
When it comes to handling all data, the partnership between WANdisco, PLC and IBM is uniquely qualified to facilitate the “active replication of data.”
David Richards, CEO of WANdisco, said his company is moving past just “replicating Hadoop.” Richards talked with John Furrier (@furrier) and Peter Burris (@plburris), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team at BigDataSV 2016, where theCUBE is celebrating #BigDataWeek, including news and events from the #StrataHadoop conference.
“For the last 12 months, we’ve been realigning our products to a market we could see rapidly evolving,” explained Richards. The CEO commented that the market needs to develop beyond “Hadoop-specific distribution vendors to actually something that can produce a complete solution.” He continued, stating that IBM has a “massive” advantage.
Ritika Gunnar, VP of data and analytics at IBM, talked about IBM’s partnership with WANdisco. “When you think about all data, all data is a very powerful thing,” Gunnar declared. She explained that when she thinks of “all data,” she thinks of three things: data that is not only on-prem, but also in the cloud; structured data that is in traditional operating systems; and external data.
IBM and WANdisco are working toward a “digitally transformed business.” Where WANdisco comes into the equation is in “the speed in which everyone needs all data” and delivering it in a serviceable way, according to Richards.
