"The real important thing in solving Big Data problems is the person," Dumbill tells theCUBE hosts John Furrier and Dave Vellante. "If you have to wait 10 minutes between queries coming back, that person goes to sleep, losses their flow and they're not empowered. So the real important thing about real time and in-memory database technology is that it empowers the analyst to explore interactively rather than going off to sleep and losing their threat while the query runs."
Like real time analytics, gamification is also a playing an increasingly important role in shaping user experiences. Dumbill perceives the methodology as a new paradigm for software development, enabling developers to "respect the humanity" of their users and boost engagement as a result.
