Why Cloudyn gains confidence with AWS | #reinvent
by Gabriel Pesek | Oct 9, 2015
With so many aspects of data analysis opened up by the tools of Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), many end users can find the sheer wealth of options overwhelming. Fortunately, there are companies that specialize in helping these customers gain a better understanding of how they can best utilize AWS’ tools and cloud services.
Sharon Wagner, CEO and founder of Cloudyn Software Ltd., met with Stu Miniman and Brian Gracely, cohosts for theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Amazon re:Invent 2015 to discuss Cloudyn’s focuses and its response to the announcements made at this year’s re:Invent event.
Monitoring and optimization
Cloudyn’s core service, as Wagner put it, is to “look at the way your application is running in the cloud and optimize its performance.” Offering user interfaces customized to the needs of each company and users within those companies, helping customers decide what resources they need and improving performance while reducing cost are other aspects of Cloudyn’s services, but making the data of the cloud interpretable to these users is the foremost concern.
By hooking up to private cloud storage to generate usage analysis for customers, and then outputting that analysis to the various UIs, Cloudyn makes use of AWS services across the board. The variety of tools AWS makes available for collating and codifying data and data usage was key in Cloudyn’s decision to use them; as Wagner said, “AWS is currently the only provider that provides these kinds of services to its customers.”
Looking forward
While optimizing cloud deployment and performance responsibility are already far more streamlined than in years past, Wagner felt confident that AWS would continue to roll out further improvements to its line of products. “I see a lot of growth from the different partners in the Amazon ecosystem,” he said. “It gives us a lot of confidence that this market is growing right now.”
