PopcornApps founder and CEO Samvit Raina attended the recent Appcelerator Platform launch event in Mountain View, California to represent his firm, an Appcelerator Partner and Utility Industry Expert. SiliconAngle correspondent Jeff Frick seized the opportunity to get the executive’s take on the new solution and discuss mobile adoption in the enterprise.
Raina cuts right to the chase. He says that Appcelerator’s new mobile development suite has helped his company realize improvements across the board, and calls it “the only full service platform” on the market. He names four features that distinguish it from competing development environments:
– Support for a wide variety of platforms, including a broad spectrum of operating systems and devices.
– Accessibility. Raina says that the solution makes it considerably easier for managers to keep track of their teams’ progress.
– Built-in analytical capabilities that enable organizations to identify end-user usage trends and optimize their apps accordingly.
– Dashboards that help admins monitor application performance.
Frick goes off topic and asks Raina about his decision to name his company PopcornApps. After providing a shortened version of what he calls a “long story,” Raina jumps back to enterprise mobility and lists the verticals that are leading the pack in terms of adoption.
The executive says that many retailers, airliners, hotels and travel agencies identified the value of mobility early on. He adds that Telcos are leveraging data from users’ mobile devices to optimize their infrastructure.
According to Raina, pharmaceutical companies and other regulated industries have fallen behind the curve due to their unique security and compliance considerations. He predicts that these segments will catch up as security concerns and legislative pressures diminish over the time.
