In this CUBE Conversations interview, theCUBE’s Dave Vellante sits down with Juan Loaiza, executive vice president of database technologies at Oracle, to unpack why Oracle’s “AI Database 26AI” is more than a marketing label. Loaiza explains that customers on 23AI receive a seamless upgrade to 26AI via a quarterly patch and that many benefits extend to 19C users. He details how Oracle has infused AI across the stack – vectors in the core, automated RAG, unified vector search and similar-object retrieval – while preserving mission-critical capabilities such as security, disaster recovery and scale. The result: AI is “in” the database, so enterprises can bring AI to their data without re-architecting.
The conversation explores natural-language-to-SQL so business users can query in their own words, AI applied across all data types and workloads (relational, documents, spatial, graph, streaming, IoT, warehousing and more), and privacy guarantees moved into the database so AI only sees what each user is authorized to access. Loaiza also discusses agentic AI that can take actions across tools and data, quantum-resistant algorithms for data at rest and in transit, and the Autonomous AI Lakehouse that embraces Apache Iceberg – “USB-C for data” – so multiple vendors (including Databricks) can read and write the same open format. He closes with an update on Oracle’s multicloud footprint – Exadata, RAC and Data Guard running in production across roughly 50 partner data centers (Azure, Google, Amazon) plus Cloud@Customer – and why existing Oracle estates can “drop in” the AI Database to accelerate adoption.
