In this CUBE Conversation, theCUBE’s Dave Vellante sits down with Çetin Özbütün, executive vice president for Autonomous AI Database Technologies at Oracle, to unpack Oracle’s Autonomous AI Lakehouse. Özbütün describes an open, interoperable data platform that blends the performance, reliability and security of Oracle’s Autonomous AI database with the openness of Apache Iceberg – so customers can discover and access data wherever it lives, across platforms and across clouds. He notes that the fully managed Autonomous AI database eliminates human error, handles over 48 billion queries per hour and runs on OCI, AWS, Azure and Google Cloud – bringing those capabilities directly to Iceberg tables. The discussion dives into how Oracle differentiates in a crowded lakehouse market: a fully autonomous, Exadata-powered database that automates tasks like provisioning, backups, monitoring and indexing; right-sized scaling beyond rigid instance sizes; and deep Iceberg support spanning SQL, graph and e-graph analytics, vector search, built-in data integration and catalog capabilities optimized for Iceberg. Özbütün details Oracle’s “catalog of catalogs,” which unifies data across popular ecosystems including Databricks Unity Catalog, AWS Glue and Snowflake Horizon, and explains performance features such as Exadata Table Cache – caching frequently accessed Iceberg data in Exadata flash for native-like performance – and the pay-per-use Data Lake Accelerator that automatically adds network and compute based on query demand. On migration, he outlines that Autonomous Data Warehouse customers are automatically upgraded to Autonomous AI Lakehouse with no changes, while on-prem Exadata data warehouses can modernize incrementally by adding new Iceberg datasets at their own pace. Autonomous AI Lakehouse is available today on OCI and the major hyperscalers.
