Danilo Zimmermann, CIO of Banco BS2, and of course, Diego Puerta, Brazil General Manager at Dell Technologies. Great to see you, thanks for coming on. We're in town for the World Cup, I could talk about that all day long. Let's get into AI factories though. Talk about your business. How are things going? How are you looking at the AI wave? How is it impacting your business?
Danilo Zimmermann
>> Thank you, Diego. Thank you, John, to be here in this iconic place. BS2 is a digital bank focused on companies. And we have credit and other products to offer for companies in Brazil. And talk about infrastructure and AI, as a digital bank, security, availability, latency is not negotiable. It's mandatory for us, of course. And create a critical infrastructure is very important in these situations to be the foundation before you scale AI. So I believe a lot on that. And talk about a little about AI. We are building a huge database, Data Lake as a foundation too, together with this critical infrastructure. And also in parallel, preparing the governance and agents, AI agents to escalate in some business areas and also in IT. So for us, it's very important to have the governance, of course, of the AI initiatives as a regulation that's necessary in Brazil especially. The Central Bank is very strong with us there. And we see that we have now a roadmap with this new infrastructure to develop those initiatives.
John Furrier
>> Your financial infrastructure, that's critical infrastructure. Yeah. Diego, the regulatory environment also is there. They have a lot of data. It's regulated. Banks are banks, but AI is helping. We're seeing financial infrastructure enable faster credit, new ways to do things. What are some of the highlights?
Diego Puerta
>> Okay. And let's add on top of that, the Brazilian complexity that's well known. Explain. It's even more complex. The regulatory, the tax changes, the complexity of the tax changes. We are going through a tax reform right now, but it's going to take a while to get in place. Then it's a super complex process and requires a lot of technology from the bank system. That's not a surprise why the Brazilian banking system is so advanced. And in the case of BS2, I'd like to highlight something. It's a bank that belongs to a very traditional family that used to call it Banco Bonsucesso, that made the transition to a digital bank and became very successful in that journey. that's a very entrepreneurial family, changing the business, adapting to the new dynamics. And I'm sure that they are in a great position to take advantage of the AI.
John Furrier
>> So they've transformed. So that was kind of old school.
Diego Puerta
>> A couple of times. I've never heard of that.
John Furrier
>> And there's a lot of operational changes and efficiencies. How did you do it? What are you doing now?
Danilo Zimmermann
>> Yeah, as Diego said, it was a big transformation that we continue to have. So the strategy in putting IT as an enabler for the business strategy was very important and continues to be very important for us. So as a digital bank, we need to be near the strategy, not only develop or assist in construction, but understand the business and understand the customer to really develop products that bring value, bring good experience. So in IT, we prepare a change, especially related to our culture and process, especially now in an AI moment, when you need to build a new way to work, to really modify the process, not only adopt agents in specific processes.
John Furrier
>> Talk about the partnership because you need a partner. Diego, what was the strategy? How is it working? Can you give us some examples of what's going on right now?
Diego Puerta
>> I believe it's the same format we are doing with the most strategic and tech demanding customers in Brazil. Understanding the business, working together, helping them navigate to manage IT complexity. But the most important aspect is understanding their business needs. I think that's where we spend most of the time discussing what is critical, what do you guys want to change? And especially now with AI, it's what do you want to transform? What's the business transformation we want to make? And the discussion has not been different with BS2. digital banking. It's money.
John Furrier
>> So money is data. Automation is efficiency. So with AI, we see good data, automation is big. So what are your data strategy ambitions? How are you thinking about that? Because this is where the opportunity, the headroom as they say, there's a lot more growth.
Danilo Zimmermann
>> Yeah, as I start to talk here, we prepare our foundation as a data lake, and we already started with some agents, and now that we migrate our data center and invest in a new infrastructure together with Dell, we are preparing a more accelerated roadmap, I would say, to really scale it with security, with governance, as I said, and understand the customer. And we are always using our partners to help on that.So talk.
John Furrier
>> About the Dell relationship that you have. How did they help? I'll ask him the same question. Do you want me to leave? Go to silence. No, because transitions are hard. And once you cross that threshold, you now are on another level. And things get faster.
Danilo Zimmermann
>> Dell is our long -term partner and following and together with us in all the journey. So recently for example we had some experience with automation with some suggestions about more efficiency helping us to become a better company, a better and intelligent company. So I would say that Dell is already a strategic partner, not only a tech partner. That for us is very important. What we expect always is that this kind of partner understands our business context, not only to offer technology but help us to connect infrastructure with business outcomes.
John Furrier
>> Diego, what's the partnership for them? How's it looking for you? How do you help them? What's been the core work product? What's been the strategy? More of the same? Has there been anything different?
Diego Puerta
>> No, I think that understanding how BS2 has changed, it has been key to help us then with the infrastructure. They own the strategy. We support them on the infrastructure challenges. That's how we've been working and it's been quite successful. It's a pleasure to be part of that journey.
John Furrier
>> I have to ask you a question. As a big family, this private company, old school, now you go faster in the modern era. You're now a modern company. What was it like for the owners? And were they skeptical? Did they give you full confidence? Were they nervous? What were they thinking? Take us through that. You better do it.
Danilo Zimmermann
>> Yeah. Actually, the family is ahead, always. BS2 is recognized in Brazil as an innovative company. Since Bonsucesso, when they launched new products, ahead of the big banks. So I don't have problems on that. I was working together with the family that controls the bank, with the CEO. That's the CEO that the family brought to the bank from the market to help us in 2021. So I'm having space to develop our digital structure. They wanted to do it. Yeah, they need it and we need to do that in Brazil. And it's an opportunity to really focus on some areas that the big banks maybe don't have the same focus on.
John Furrier
>> Well, we're here at the New York Stock Exchange. The bell's going to ring very shortly. We're going to go down and see that IPO in the future.
