play_circle_outlineEmpowering Future Technologies: The Critical Role of Semiconductors and Lattice Semiconductor's Innovations in AI and Low-Power Solutions
In this interview from the GSA Awards Celebration, Lattice Semiconductor Chief Executive Officer Ford Tamer joins theCUBE’s John Furrier to discuss the company’s industry recognition and its strategic position within the AI-driven semiconductor boom. Tamer explains Lattice’s role in providing "companionship" chips – low-power, small-size FPGAs – that function alongside CPUs and GPUs in data centers. He highlights the intense market momentum, noting that demand is "on fire" across both data center infrastructure and physical AI applications, signaling a strong...Read more

What are the insights regarding the growth and future of the semiconductor industry, particularly in relation to Lattice's products and the concept of physical AI?add
>> Okay, I'm John Furrier with theCUBE. We are here at the awards, the GSA's annual celebration of the semiconductor industry as it celebrates, again, a revitalization as AI drives everything. Ford here is the CEO of Lattice Semiconductor, award winner. Congratulations. Thanks for coming on our show backstage. It's kind of like a red carpet backstage.
Ford Tamer
>> Thank you.
John Furrier
>> How are you feeling up there?
Ford Tamer
>> I'm feeling great. This is a big recognition by our peers in the room and worldwide and it's a privilege and honor to have this recognition from our peers. Thank you very much.
John Furrier
>> The GSA community is on fire right now. Obviously, the hard work has been done over the many, many years, but now it's the mainstream. Everyone's talking about semiconductors. We love it, but it's like now everyone's like, "Hey, you're in that business." What's it like for you to look out next year with the growth that's upon us, the market out there? How do you see next year turning out to be?
Ford Tamer
>> It's very exciting. We at Lattice provide what we call a companionship, which is a low power, small size FPGA. And that companionship is a companionship to CPU, GPU, switches, NIC, storage as on the data center side of the world, but also on the physical AI with image sensors and LiDAR, and radars, and infrared cameras, and all kind of industrial equipment. And it's all on fire, whether it's at the data center or in the physical AI. And we look forward to a strong '26.
John Furrier
>> Final question. The physical AI is not just the big fat GPU for AI. It's the car, it's the robots, it's manufacturing, it's retail. AI is all the devices will have a lot of components working together. Explain to folks watching what that means for their life.
Ford Tamer
>> Yeah. So it's a huge amount of benefits from autonomy where you'll have robotaxis to new advances in medical where you have GPUs and some of these new medical arms to the humanoids that are supposed to take-
John Furrier
>> Take care of us?
Ford Tamer
>> Take care of us in a few years from now to all kind of innovation and the devices that are near you and around you.
John Furrier
>> Well, Ford, thank you so much for swinging by our little red carpet award ceremony. We're looking forward to maybe digging deeper with you as the world gets more connected. The devices are all going to work together. There's a lot of collaboration, this new foundation of AI coming. Thanks for coming on.
Ford Tamer
>> Thank you very much.
John Furrier
>> I appreciate you.
Ford Tamer
>> Thank you.
John Furrier
>> Okay. I'm John Furrier. More awards coming fast and furious. We'll be right back.
