In this theCUBE exclusive GSA Awards Celebration segment, Sanjay Gupta, chief strategy officer of Auradine, joins John Furrier to discuss why ultra-low-power semiconductor innovation is becoming a defining issue for AI-scale infrastructure. Gupta explains how Auradine is developing technologies that reduce power consumption in AI XPU chips, with additional applications in areas such as blockchain, helping address major power and efficiency challenges across modern data centers. As a finalist for the “Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company” honor, he ref...Read more
>> Welcome back everyone. I'm John Furrier, host of theCUBE. We are in San Jose for the GSA Award Celebration, the annual event where all the leaders get together. They hobnob, they have fun, they celebrate. It's the Oscars of the semiconductor industry. It's a gala event. Sanjay Gupta is here. Great to see you again. You're up for an award.
Sanjay Gupta
>> Yes.
John Furrier
>> You've been nominated. Great to see you.
Sanjay Gupta
>> Great to see you again. It's great to be here. It's a wonderful event. It's great to see the industry here. But we're excited also at being the finalist and the most respected private semiconductor company.
John Furrier
>> Well, there's a lot of action going. I just saw another friend, CUBE alumni just sold his company for $5 billion to Marvell.
Sanjay Gupta
>> Sure.
John Furrier
>> So I mean, a lot of action happening. A lot of deals happening here. Who knows?
Sanjay Gupta
>> Yeah, it does. Again, thanks for all your good wishes and hopefully things actually go well.
John Furrier
>> For the folks watching, go to check out theCUBE. Sanjay, I got a great interview with you. A lot on robotics and AI series. Just give a quick plug on what you guys are working on, why you're nominated. What's the key?
Sanjay Gupta
>> So we're actually working on a very important problem, which we think is there for the world of semiconductors, both for AI as well as non-AI applications, which is on ultra-low power. So we are working on technologies that reduce the amount of power that is consumed in AI XPU chips. They also have applications in other areas like blockchain. So by reducing them onto power, we think that's solving major issues in data centers and for the AI infrastructure industry going forward.
John Furrier
>> Not to say we called it early, but when we first chatted, we were riffing about the power. That's all anyone's talking about right now. And next year, we're expecting based on the build out demands, the power envelope is the number one concern. Continues to be.
Sanjay Gupta
>> And I think it's going to continue to be that for a long time in the future. The needs for compute is going to keep on going up. So we're trying to reduce power by order of magnitude. And we think it's got a very exciting future for the entire industry.
John Furrier
>> All right. I haven't chatted with you in a while, a couple months. What's the coolest thing you're working on right now? You got the award, but next year is going to be a very good year for AI infrastructure as we're already seeing agents happening, the business model. I was just at re:Invent a couple days ago for three days. Everyone's doing deals. There's a lot of business development going on, building applications. Next year is going to be big. What's the coolest thing you're working on now?
Sanjay Gupta
>> Yeah. So I'd say outside of power, we're also working on other related infrastructure. We're working on very specialized cooling techniques, which are also needed as well along the power. So we're trying to reduce the power and some very new and unique techniques on cooling. And the two of them go hand to hand in each other.
John Furrier
>> Power and cooling. Very sexy these days. You go back a decade. "What? Power cooling?"
Sanjay Gupta
>> I know it's a decade, but here this is really pushing the boundaries of semiconductor technology in both the areas.
John Furrier
>> Sanjay, it's great to see you. Always a pleasure. Enjoy your evening. We'll be rooting for you for the award. If you do win, we're going to do a back stage interview with you.
Sanjay Gupta
>> No, thank you very much and I look forward to it.
John Furrier
>> Good to see you. Okay. John Furrier, reporting here from theCUBE. We are in our backyard in Silicon Valley. Of course, we have the new studio at the NYSE. This is the gala awards for the semiconductor industry. It's the GSA Annual Award. It's the must attend event. Hundreds of tables. Big event. Thanks for watching.
