The UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is the UK’s biggest public service department, serving over 20 million claimants each year. In 2017 it faced a challenge - DWP projected the number of transactions processed would grow by 210 million. How would they be able handle such a massive increase in transactions? The answer - automation, but it would have to operate at a scale and speed the Department had never seen. Robots would have to help employees both improve the quality of citizen’s lives and do new and even better things.
